NEW LUCIDA REQUINTO BRIDGES CLASSICAL AND MARIACHI GUITAR STYLES

April 15, 2005

BRISBANE, CA—The new Lucida Requinto (LG-RQ) is a beautiful mariachi guitar with a bright, responsive tone similar to a classical guitar but with a higher pitch and a traditional body style.

The requinto, along with two other guitars, is often used to form the “trio romantico,” a traditional folkloric style of mariachi music. The requinto plays lead in many mariachi bands.

The Lucida Requinto features a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a rosewood bridge and fretboard, a multi-colored inlaid rosette, 3-ply body binding, brass frets and a 2-piece mahogany neck.

The guitar has a soft cutaway design and is available with an optional solid top for an even richer tone.

Despite their popularity, especially in the southwest, requintos are hard to find. Lucida releases these guitars with greater availability. The Lucida mariachi line includes the vihuela, guitarron and bajo sexto.

Lucida, a division of The Music Link, is the maker of authentic classical and flamenco guitars as well as traditional instruments.
